The backyard has been just that- a backyard.  It’s a nice green area that was pretty when we first moved in, but after a while it just became a chore that had to be done on Saturday afternoons.  Although it was usually just once a week, it seemed like it was every day. Especially in summer, it was just a big boring irritating green area that offered no enjoyment but lots of work.  I got some books about Modern Residential Landscape Architecture had some residential desert landscape photos.  It is not quite desert where I am in Kansas, but we don’t get a lot of rain and a bit of a desert landscape makes sense.

I also went to Home Depot for paving ideas that would blend in with Modern Residential Landscape Architecture.   They had some beautiful stone paving that I think even I could do in a couple of weekends and make it look nice. I thought I would add a patio and maybe a walkway.  I am going to lay it all out so I get what I need and not waste money on extra items. Along with all the Modern Residential Landscape Architecture ideas I got at Home Depot, I think I will look into some outdoor bar islands that would look good on the patio.

I think I can plan it all out and maybe get my son and daughter to help and really make the back yard a really nice living space for not a lot of money. I really think that’s the secret-planning.
