It’s the middle of January, and it’s cold outside. Everybody wants relief from the cold, but sometimes, the heater in your home just isn’t good enough. You want the sun to shine down on your bald head, sweat to drip off you like rain, and a sunburn that would make a strawberry jealous. In the middle of the summer that might no sound so appetizing, but it’s January and it sounds great now.
So what do many people do to get away from the cold? They go south to places like Phoenix, Arizona. Phoenix is sweltering during the summer, but it’s a little piece of paradise during the winter. Especially if you come from a place where the roads are iced over, you’ll love Phoenix.
The only problem is that the city has had some troubles during the housing crisis. The record numbers of short sales and foreclosures has kind of left the city reeling. Housing prices rose way too fast and now the city is paying for it. That’s the problem with living in such a desirable place like Phoenix – everybody wants to move there, so housing prices get out of control unless something bad happens to stop them.
I’m willing to bet that you cant go through any neighborhood without finding a Phoenix foreclosure. This is great news for buyers because they can get great deals on houses that are in great shape. So I guess you could say that the housing market in Phoenix is a blessing for buyers and a curse for homeowners.
